
Whipping
The ends of a freshly-cut rope will rapidly fray and unlay if nothing is done to prevent it. This is not only valid for polyester and polypropylene based ropes but also for dyneema ropes (with or without cover). Whipping a rope is relative easy:

A long loop around the rope that you need to hold with your thumb. |

Wind the whipping rope around rope. The length of the whipping is about the same as the diameter of the rope. |

Thread the twine through the end of the loop (A)and pull the end (B) until the loop (A) has disappeared under the whipping. |
