Every now and then we get questions about the length of hallyards and morring lines. As we have tried to bring across, the current length of the line is a very good starting point when talking on hallyards and sheets. Sometimes, it is very practical to us a shorter or longer rope.
A disadvantage for the hallyard is, that for measuring the exact length of the halyard, it has to be removed from the mast - something you only want to do when replacing it immediately with a new hallyard. Not everybody has access to the original boat manual which normally contains this kind of information.
For this reason, we have put some guidelines for giving you some kind of understanding of the required length for the hallyard, sheet of mooring line. We urge you te be carefull with this and consider your own situation for using these guidelines.
